The Summers family has been making monuments in Anderson County for over 50 years. Two generations are in the studio today.
When the first generation of the Summers family opened this studio, they were carving by hand. The county seat of Anderson County was quieter, the tools were slower, and every stone that left the yard had been touched by someone who knew the family it was made for.
That is still true. What has changed is the technology — better cutting equipment, laser etching, design software that lets a family see exactly what their monument will look like before a single cut is made. What has not changed is who answers the phone, who draws the design, and who drives the truck to the cemetery.
The third generation brought in the equipment. The fourth generation is learning the trade. Both show up at 511 Clinch Avenue every weekday morning.
We serve Anderson County, Knox County, Campbell County, Roane County, and Loudon County. Most of our customers come from within an hour of Clinton. A few come farther because someone told them the quality was worth the drive.
We do not do high-pressure sales. We do not charge for design proofs. We set every monument we sell. If something is wrong when we arrive at the cemetery, we fix it before we leave.
That has been the approach for 50 years. It is not complicated. It just requires showing up.

We do not ship your order to a distant manufacturer and wait. We cut, sandblast, and finish in Clinton. That means we can answer specific questions about the stone, the finish, and the timeline — because we are standing next to it.
We bring the monument to the cemetery and set it ourselves — properly leveled, properly placed. We do not hand it off to a delivery service at the cemetery gate.
We are open weekdays until 5 PM, Wednesday until 3:30, and Saturdays until 2 PM. We are closed Sunday. If you call after hours, leave a message and we will return it the next morning. We will not pretend otherwise.
